Vanessa Feltz vows to rediscover saucy side on new show and reveals star-studded guestlist from Love Island to Hollywood

VANESSA Feltz has revealed she’ll unleash her saucy side with her new YouTube show and has shared the big name stars clamouring to play a part. The broadcasting veteran, 64, is relaunching her career with At Home With Vanessa after her Channel 5 daytime show was axed. Speaking exclusively to The Sun, she said: “It’s in my real home and the premise is you will get to see bedrooms, bathrooms, my bed, because I’m going to be doing an on-the-bed interview, obviously, because I was the on-the-bed person on The Big Breakfast.” Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! “And the bathroom and the kitchen, stuff will be going on in all the different rooms. The crew, you’ll get to know them. And I hope it will be kind of uplifting and lighthearted, good laugh, but not silly, not pointless, not just like a load of old bilge. “You know that what’s being said will be worth hearing, but not necessarily deadly serious. A bit controversial, maybe a bit saucy. I think that’d be quite nice for a change.” There is no shortage of famous faces desperate to jump into bed with Vanessa and chat about juicy subjects. Sir Rod Stewart‘s wife, Penny Lancaster, has been a “fantastic” support and is itching to appear, while Calum Best is another who has been vocal in championing the venture. Showgirls and Cocktail actress Gina Gershon told Vanessa she would be “honoured” to take part, while fellow American Christine Lahti, star of Chicago Hope, feels the same way. Most read in Showbiz Love Island‘s Olivia Bowen, Anthea Turner, and Lizzie Cundy have also expressed an interest. “I don’t know anyone that I’ve had on any show that doesn’t say they want to be on it,” said Vanessa, speaking on behalf of BetWright Casino. “I think partly because they want to come and see Feltz Towers for a start. I think that is a bit of a pull, so I said they’ll be delicious bagels and fabulous lunch served, so I think they fancy that. “I think they just fancy a show that’s in someone’s real house because it will be a vibe that’s very different from the usual, isn’t it?” Vanessa likens the easy-going concept to MTV Cribs, the hugely popular noughties reality show that saw big-name celebs open the doors to their homes. Each tour often ended with the celebs desperately trying to shoo the camera out, and Vanessa expects her show to have a similar vibe. “The behind the scenes will be a celeb lingering in my bedroom that I haven’t managed to get rid of, you know, that kind of thing,” she said. “Once you’re making your own stuff, you can kind of do what you feel like doing. You can do things that you think are funny or you think are unusual or you think are appealing. “You don’t have to sort of work your way through the rule book like you have to when you work for a channel.” The show will be professionally made, complete with an editor and producers, but Vanessa is keen to break away from the constraints of terrestrial television. “Ultimately, if I think it’s really dull and dreary, it’s been done before or I can’t be bothered or I think everybody knows what they think about that or something, it’s too obvious, I’m not doing it,” she said. There’s a growing trend for household stars to strike out on their own. Piers Morgan‘s Uncensored has been a huge success and is now estimated to be worth £150m. While Holly Willoughby, Vanessa’s former This Morning co-star, today launched her new YouTube channel, Together, aided by her TV producer husband Dan Baldwin’s Hungry Bear Media. There’s no competition between them though, despite attempts to pit them against each other. Vanessa said: “Holly Willoughby, my great friend who’s posted so sweetly on my Instagram, she’s a great supporter, I couldn’t love her more; big guns are going to YouTube because it’s the way forward. “Somebody tried to say to me, ‘oh you’re going head to head’, I said well there’s millions of things uploaded on YouTube all over the world every day that anyone can watch whenever they like at any time of the day or night, nobody is head to head with anyone. “It isn’t like that at all; they will consume their chosen bit of the media at whatever time of day. I hope to goodness they’ll watch Holly and then they’ll watch me. “But there’s definitely not a head- t-o head feeli;g, it’s not the same as, you know, going up against someone on terrestrial TV, you’re both on at three o’clock, oh gosh who’s going to watch which, it just, that’s not the same thing, it’s a completely different market out the, re isn’t it. “I wish Holly all the luck in the world and I’m sure she’ll be a storming success, she’s very, very, very good both on and off TV.” Comment now
