Vance says AOC is ‘very good’ at saying ‘nothing’

Vice President JD Vance took a shot at another speculated 2028 presidential candidate, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), during a rally in Iowa on Friday.“A lot of people who run spend 20 years learning how to say nothing,” Vance told a crowd on Friday in Council Bluffs. “Some politicians are very good at it — AOC!”The comments came during a rally for Iowa Republican gubernatorial nominee Zach Lahn in Council Bluffs. During his remarks, Vance did not address the Iran war, days after Reps. Zach Nunn (R-IA) and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) voted with five other Republicans to restrict President Donald Trump’s ability to wage the conflict.Nunn, Miller-Meeks, and Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA), who is running to replace Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) in the Senate but voted against the war powers resolution, were not in attendance at the Vance event.“I know she couldn’t be here today, but we’re going to elect Ashley Hinton the next United States senator for the great state of Iowa,” he said. All three lawmakers are considered to be in toss-up races in this November’s midterm elections in a state that Trump won in 2024 by 13.2 percentage points. But Vance did use the opportunity to underscore what Trump has done for farmers amid his imposition of tariffs in an attempt to renegotiate trade deals.Vance, too, used the platform to criticize Democratic nominees, from Lahn’s opponent Rob Sand to Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El Sayed.REPUBLICANS PUMP MILLIONS INTO STATES TRUMP WON THREE TIMES“Today’s Democrat Party has decided that this country needs to not be preserved and built upon, but this country needs to be utterly transformed — and it’s ordinary men and women in states like Iowa who are standing in the way,” he said. “This election is a referendum on common sense vs. pure, unadulterated crazy. Let’s send a crazy packing and get them out of Washington, D.C., and get them out of the border.”
