It's a busy time for gamers at the moment. We're knee-deep in September, with Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Marvel's Wolverine, and the highest-rated game of the year so far, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, all having hit store shelves this week. Next week, we have Control Resonant and a new Silent Hill, and finally The Witcher 3 Remastered to cap off the month. October is proving to be just as busy too, with Gears of War: E-Day, Final Fantasy Resonance, Phantom Blade Zero, and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort all clogging up the month. Amongst those titles is Valor Mortis, the first-person soulslike that's managed to impress and looks better and better every time it shows up at an event. However, despite looking great, there's a real chance Valor Mortis could be overshadowed by so many titles releasing in October, and people still busy playing through September's offerings. Thankfully, the devs know this as well, and is actually doing something consumer-friendly to try and stand out from the pack. Valor Mortis Is Launching At A Budget Price due To How Busy It Is Earlier today, the Valor Mortis Twitter account announced that the game would cost $39.99 when it launches next month. That's considerably lower than the games around it, and developer One More Level has admitted that it's doing this due to just how packed the release schedule is this year, claiming that there's "high demand for your time and money." "We have had many discussions this past year about the price of Valor Mortis," reads the statement. "We believe that the game has the quality, fidelity, and playtime in its story to go toe-to-toe with many 'full price' titles. Still, this Fall is stacked and there's high demand for your time and money. That's why Valor Mortis is launching on October 13 for £39.99." At the same time, One More Level also announces that it's been working on a major story DLC for the game that will be releasing next year, and if you want to support the devs more, you can pick up the deluxe edition of the game for $59.99. That will net you said DLC when it releases, as well as a bunch of cosmetics. It's a pretty novel way to try and get ahead of the crowd, especially when the closest big release to Valor Mortis — Gears of War — is sitting at a pretty pricey $69.99 for the base game. I hope it works out for them, and at the very least, this will put them in the good books of a lot of people when release day finally rolls around.
