Utah Softball Bolsters Roster With Talented Transfer Class

The Utah Utes softball team made big splashes into the 2026 transfer portal, nabbing seven players from across America to join the team for the 2027 season. Utah’s first land was on June 17th, signing Anya German, a junior catcher out of Austin, Texas. German comes to Utah after spending last season at California, where she put together a strong sophomore campaign. The catcher saw half of her hits go for extra bases, including five home runs, while adding five doubles, 20 RBIs and a .460 slugging percentage. Behind the plate, German also threw out 11 runners trying to steal. Before her time with the Golden Bears, German started her college career at Texas Tech. As a freshman, she appeared in 30 games and made 16 starts, helping the Red Raiders reach the 2025 Women’s College World Series Championship Series. She hit .288 with 14 RBIs while finishing the year with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. The next came on June 26, when the Utes inked pitcher Lizzy Tommasini. The righty from Eagle, Idaho spent her freshman through junior season’s at Idaho State, pitching for the Bengals in Pocatello. Her best season came in 2025 when she finished with a 3.29 ERA. She helped Idaho State capture back-to-back Big Sky regular season championships. The 2026 Bengals squad also won the Big Sky Tournament, earning the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Two more commitments came on the same day as the Utes added outfielder Ashtyn Reichardt and pitcher Julianne Rose. Reichardt comes to Utah after spending two seasons at Arkansas, where she was part of a Razorback program that reached the Women’s College World Series for the first time in program history in 2026. During that season, she went 5-for-15 at the plate on the season. She was a part of a 47-win Arkansas team that hosted an NCAA Regional. Before arriving in Fayetteville, Reichardt was ranked as the No. 22 player in the 2024 class by Extra Innings Softball after a standout high school career at Katy High School in Texas. Rose joins Utah after spending the last two seasons at Boise State, where she picked up 12 wins during her time with the Broncos. As a freshman, Rose recorded three saves and threw two complete-game shutouts while establishing herself in the circle. Just four days later, Utah landed two more in pitcher Natalie Klenda and utility player Taegan Smith. Klenda joins Utah after helping lead McLennan to back-to-back NJCAA Division I World Series appearances. During her freshman season, she posted a 15-3 record with a 1.87 ERA while going 9-0 in conference play. She followed that up in 2026 with a 16-7 record and a 2.61 ERA, earning second-team all-conference honors. Klenda finished her McLennan career with a 31-10 record and a 2.30 ERA across nearly 250 innings. A transfer from Weber State, Smith comes down from Ogden where she posted a .298 career batting average. She recorded back-to-back seasons hitting above .300, including a .310 average in 2025 when she finished among the Big Sky’s top 10 in hits and runs scored. In 2026, Smith continued her success at the plate, hitting .305 with a .346 on-base percentage, a .463 slugging percentage, nine extra-base hits and 17 RBIs. The Utes wrapped things up with their seventh and final player in a big way, landing an SEC transfer, Jada Phillips to the class. Phillips, a catcher and utility player spent her first two years of college playing with the LSU Tigers. She appeared in 17 games for the Tigers. During her sophomore season, she hit .333 and recorded the first home run of her collegiate career on May 2 against Auburn. She also finished the year with a perfect fielding percentage.
