Use AI against terror, zero tolerance on infiltration: Amit Shah directs agencies

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday directed security agencies to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards infiltration and illegal immigration while expanding the use of artificial intelligence in counter-terror operations.Shah was addressing the ninth National Security Strategies Conference in New Delhi, attended by around 850 officers from across the country.Discussions on the opening day focused on terrorism, radicalisation, cybercrime and Pakistan’s proxy war against India.Shah asked agencies to use AI to analyse intelligence available on the Multi-Agency Centre platform. He also called for standard operating procedures to govern the use of the technology in tackling national security threats. The Home Minister stressed the need for training and effective implementation of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ PRAHAAR initiative against terrorism and radicalisation.He directed agencies to follow a coordinated approach while investigating cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Shah also called for intensified efforts to bring fugitives back to India and speed up their prosecution. He asked agencies to use the trial in absentia provision against accused people who remain absconding.On infiltration, Shah directed agencies to take strict action and develop a comprehensive security framework.
