USA Today ranks every ACC college football stadium going into 2026

USA Today’s Kevin Skiver ranked every single ACC football stadium going into the 2026 college football season. These rankings are based on historical success, atmosphere, uniqueness and more! The ACC is a loaded conference, like pretty much of all of the Power Four groupings at this point. We’ll go from No. 17 to 1. 17. Acrisure Stadium, Pitt Pitt has a great program and identity, as USA Today pointed out. But they play in the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Well, that’s just unfair, as far as sharing stadiums with pro sports franchises. The Panthers are kind of just, well, here. That’s all there is to it. 16. Gerald J. Ford Stadium, SMU SMU has some upgrades coming, most likely. But the Mustangs’ home field isn’t up to the level or some of the other traditional ACC stadiums. USA Today noted it could be passed off “as many non-power conference stadiums around the country.” Ouch. 15. Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium, Wake Forest Wake Forest has some unique touches to its stadium, but it’s hardly an intimidating one in the ACC. Deacon Hill is a nice backdrop for the home team, but that’s pretty much it. The good news is, the fans show out on game day. At least when it’s full, it looks better on television. 14. Wallace Wade Stadium, Duke Some recent renovations kept this stadium out of the bottom of the ACC going into 2026. The capacity sits at 35,000 which is good for Duke, we’d imagine. It’s still a basketball school, but there’s no doubt Manny Diaz, and Mike Elko before him, have generated buzz for the football team. A night game atmosphere, despite the lack of personality in the stadium, is pretty cool. 13. Stanford Stadium, Stanford Stanford, like SMU and Cal, are the new ACC stadiums on this list. Stanford’s newer iteration of its home field is that it has a California bowl shape, as USA Today pointed out. There is a tree mascot to signify the evergreen trees in the background. Unfortunately, this is lower on the list due to Stanford’s lack of success on the field in recent years. 12. Alumni Stadium, Boston College Boston College doesn’t have a massive capacity: 44,500. It’s one of the smaller ACC stadiums and it doesn’t have any longstanding traditions. However, there isn’t a bad seat in the house. If you’re going to watch the Eagles, Chestnut Hill isn’t a bad place to go and watch a football game! 11. Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Miami doesn’t have a traditional ACC stadium like others on this list. Like Pitt, it shares its field with a pro team, the Miami Dolphins. Yes, this is a new and very nice stadium, but it lacks the traditional college football feel, despite the Hurricanes’ best efforts. Funny enough, Miami got to play here, at home, during last year’s national championship game. The location is the biggest detriment as its well away from Miami’s campus. 10. L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, Louisville Louisville has a more classic feel among the ACC stadiums. Here, it cracks the top 10. The view from the top is really cool, being able to see the rolling Kentucky hills. But the game day atmosphere is a little more intimidating, and Big East teams back in the day can attest to that too. Expansions to the stadium allowed more fans in red in, making it more of a difficult place to play. 9. JMA Wireless Dome, Syracuse USA Today opted to put Syracuse’s field up higher than some might have on their personal lists. It’s the only domed stadium in the ACC and it’s quite quirky when you think about it. As in, they play basketball here too! The capacity is just under 50,000 so it;s not overly raucous, but it’s an intriguing place to play. 8. Carter-Finley Stadium, NC State The Wolfpack fans are very loyal to their football team. Carter-Finley cracks the top eight among ACC stadiums going into 2026. The capacity of 57,000 is mostly fans in red and it can get quite rowdy there. Night games in Raleigh boast one of the cooler atmospheres in college football too. 7. Kenan Memorial Stadium, North Carolina North Carolina has one of the most “picturesque” views among the ACC stadiums on this list. Bill Belichick unfortunately didn’t bring the extra juice throughout the entire year of 2025 though. The Tar Heels have a loud atmosphere to say the least. If Belichick can actually muster up more wins this year and get UNC in postseason contention, perhaps the atmosphere will improve as well. 6. Scott Stadium, Virginia This ACC stadium actually houses 60,000+ inside its walls. Virginia might be an underrated place to play when it comes to talking about home fields around the country. Remember their recent win over Florida State on a weeknight? That place was insane. Fans are basically on top of the field. Tony Elliott has things rolling for the Cavaliers going into 2026, so be on the lookout for home games here this fall. 5. California Memorial Stadium, Cal According to this list, Cal has one of the more beautiful stadiums in the ACC, and the west coast for that matter. This one is over 100 years old, opened in 1923. Unfortunately, despite the potential of the team rising in recent years, there are too many empty seats for the ranker’s liking. If the fans are bought in and this is a solid program in 2026 and beyond, this could rise among stadium atmospheres in college football. 4. Bobby Dodd Stadium, Georgia Tech Somehow, this college football gem of an ACC stadium is tucked into Atlanta. Now it’s not the Falcons’ shiny new toy, it’s Georgia Tech’s 113 year old stadium! The Atlanta skyline is a nice sight, it’s a solid capacity of 52,000 and it has plenty of tradition. This stadium has a 1930 Ford Model A driven onto the field! Bobby Dodd Stadium could get plenty loud if Brent Key keeps pushing the right buttons. 3. Lane Stadium, Virginia Tech James Franklin can’t wait to get this team going at home. “Enter Sandman” remains one of the best entrances, if not the best, in college football. Yes, Virginia Tech is well removed from the Michael Vick and Frank Beamer days, but it’s still 66,000 strong on game day. The fans are loud and raucous and if Franklin has success like he did at Penn State at a minimum, this might be the ACC’s best stadium atmosphere. 2. Doak S. Campbell Stadium, Florida State Tallahassee has a great game day atmosphere. Florida State is dropping with tradition and it’s good enough for No. 2 on this ACC stadium list. The pageantry makes it stand out with Chief Osceola, the spear and the War Chant. You can hear it now can you? Now, if Mike Norvell gets this team back into ACC and CFP contention, it could be pound for pound one of the best in the country. 1. Clemson Memorial Stadium, Clemson We get that Clemson has had some down years recently, but Dabo Swinney resurrected this place into an ACC stadium where you can’t win, unless you’re the Tigers. THey have a Death Valley moniker for goodness sake! Howard’s Rock, the run down the hill, heck, Swinney running down the hill, is so awesome. It’s hard to replicate that anywhere else.
