US Senator Bernie Sanders has criticised president Donald Trump after he endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "No surprise. Trump just endorsed Netanyahu," he said in a post on X. "Together, they want never-ending war in the Middle East. More death. More destruction. More genocide." Sanders called for an end to "Republican control of Congress" as well as halting all military aid to Israel. The US senator's remarks follow Trump expressing his backing of Netanyahu on Sunday, ahead of Israel’s 27 October elections. No surprise. Trump just endorsed Netanyahu. We must stop all military aid to Israel. — Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) October 19, 2026
