US modifies scope of Canadian products subject to additional duties

File photo of the White House in Washington, D.C., US. /VCG File photo of the White House in Washington, D.C., US. /VCG US President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Tuesday adding a 50% additional ad valorem tariff on certain Canadian products while eliminating the existing 50% tariff on others to "offset the burden or disadvantage on US commerce and better serve the public interest." The new tariffs will take effect on September 15.According to the proclamation, a range of Canadian products from mattresses to motorboats and golf carts will be subject to the surcharge.
