He showed up in a brand-new polo, ready to start fresh, only to be out of the building 2.5 hours later after being told there was a problem with his hygiene.The man shared his bizarre experience in a Reddit post on r/BoyDinnerDiaries titled, “I was let go from my new job after 2.5 hours.”He wrote that he had been unemployed for nine and a half months, with his unemployment benefits having already run out, when he finally secured the job, which paid more than his previous one.The night before his first day, he said he showered and laid out a brand-new polo shirt. He arrived at the office the next morning, where the supervisor showed him around and introduced him to the workplace. He was impressed by the new office, particularly its stocked kitchen and bathroom, amenities he said he had never had at his previous jobs.The supervisor explained the role before another employee took over his training around 10am. Not long after, the supervisor returned and told him he could take an early lunch before noon. She then called his trainer into a meeting. When the trainer returned, she told him she had work to finish and asked him to simply sit there for the time being. Before noon, the supervisor again told him to take an early lunch. But as he was leaving the building, the temp agency called with the news that he was being let go. The reason given was “hygiene issues.”The explanation left him baffled. He said he had showered, was well groomed and had deliberately worn a new shirt for his first day. At most, he thought his pants could have used a lint roller. With the company and supervisor refusing to elaborate, he was left trying to work out what, exactly, had gone wrong.He said two friends had confirmed that he did not smell bad. One friend had even stood very close to him and noticed only a slight smell of sweat. He also addressed a string of possibilities in an edit to his post, saying he brushed and flossed daily, had recently visited the dentist, did not smoke, lived in a smoke-free home and had washed himself thoroughly before work. He added that his clothes and body spray did not have noticeable odours either.Despite trying to find an explanation, he said he had received no closure and that the temp agency had seemingly sided with the company and cut him off.
