He said a review of US forces stationed across Europe was largely complete, with a final report still being prepared to guide decisions on American troop deployments across the continent. Four potential locations The proposed base would cost around 3 billion zloty (€700 million), with several billion more needed for supporting infrastructure, General Dariusz Łukowski, former head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, told Polish daily Rzeczpospolita. Łukowski identified four potential locations: Wrocław in southwestern Poland, suitable for an armored brigade; Szczecin in the northwest, offering port facilities; Bydgoszcz in the north-central part of the country, a hub for NATO command structures; and the western city of Poznań, home to the US Army’s V Corps forward command post. The former security chief also warned that accommodating American troops and their families would require substantial investment in housing, schools, kindergartens and healthcare facilities. “If there were 5,000 soldiers, that figure would rise to at least 15,000,” Łukowski said, referring to the total number of people requiring accommodation and services.
