A WARNING has been issued over a cuddly stuffed toy that presents a serious risk of suffocation if placed with young children. The weighted stuffed animal is sold as a stress relief tool for adults, but the Office for Product and Safety Standards (OPSS) has now urged Brits to keep it out of the reach of children. The OPSS found marketing images demonstrating use by children, prompting concern. A full statement read: “The product is a weighted item that may be placed in close contact with the user’s face and body. “Due to its weight, it may restrict breathing or movement for youngchildren, increasing the risk of suffocation. “Whilst the product is marketed as for use by adults, marketing images demonstrate use by children. “Additionally, markings and warnings including safety information was notavailable in English.” The brand’s website also says it is “safe for children” and further advises adult supervision.
