The major hotel groups don’t have global loyalty program promotions nearly as often as they used to, and when they do, they’re typically not actually much to get excited about. Along those lines, Marriott Bonvoy hasn’t had a global promotion since this spring, and that promotion ended on May 10, 2026. While the next global promotion still hasn’t been officially announced, we are learning what the details of the offer could be, for anyone with upcoming stays. The upcoming promotion will reportedly offer 1,500 Bonvoy bonus points for stays of two or more nights, plus an additional 3,000 Bonvoy bonus points for stays at resorts, meaning that members can earn up to 4,500 bonus points per stay. Let me emphasize that this hasn’t been officially announced, so I can’t personally vouch for this. However, the expectation is that registration will open on September 9, 2026, and that this will be valid for stays between September 22 and November 22, 2026. Furthermore, as usual for Bonvoy promotions, award stays wouldn’t count toward this. I’ll of course provide an update once registration for this offer starts. But I think it’s useful to have a general sense of what we can expect, in case promotions do impact your decision of which property to stay at. I value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents each, and you earn 1,500 bonus points on paid stays of at least two nights, and 4,500 bonus points on paid stays of at least two nights at resorts. Based on my valuation, that’s like a return of $10.50 and $33, respectively. When you consider that stays need to be paid in cash and need to be at least two nights, it’s hard to get very excited about that. Admittedly I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth, and some promotion is better than no promotion. However, it’s also really hard to get excited about offers like this, and I have a hard time imagining these deals drive a lot of consumer decisions.
