U.P. tourist rescued after falling 800 feet near pool in Keralam’s Idukki

A 28-year-old tourist from Uttar Pradesh was rescued by the Fire and Rescue Services after he fell nearly 800 feet while crossing a hilly path near a pool at Wagamon in Idukki district of Keralam, officials said on Tuesday (October 20, 2026).The man, identified as Sukhiya Jain, reportedly a medical doctor, suffered a fracture in his foot after the fall at the pool, around 2 km from Wagamon on Monday.A team from the Peermade Fire and Rescue Services rushed to the spot and rescued him from the difficult terrain, an official said.“He slipped while crossing a hilly path near the pool and suffered a fracture in his foot. As he could not walk, our team brought him up from the 800-feet-deep area, and he was taken to a hospital in a 108 ambulance,” the official said. Published - October 20, 2026 09:46 am IST
