Up to 3 million tourists from 50 nationalities visited Hurghada in 8 months: ETA

The Egyptian Travel Agents Associations (ETA) in Hurghada revealed statistics showing that the Hurghada Airport received approximately three million tourists between January and the end of August 2026—an increase of about three percent compared to the same period last year. Hurghada has seen an influx of tourists from approximately 50 different nationalities, reflecting the diversity of the tourism markets upon which the city relies. This diversity affords the tourism sector significant resilience and stability in the face of potential fluctuations in travel from any single market. Statistics reveal that the German market leads the list of source markets and nationalities visiting Hurghada, with a total of approximately 825,800 tourists. German visitors continue to maintain a strong presence in Red Sea resorts, upholding the market’s status as one of Hurghada’s most important traditional sources of tourism. The Russian market ranked second with a total of approximately 638,800 tourists, underscoring the enduring importance of Russian tourism to the city – Russian tourists have long constituted a key segment of the inbound tourism flow to Hurghada. The Polish market took third place with approximately 303,000 tourists, followed by the British market with around 245,700 tourists, while the Czech market recorded approximately 127,000 tourists during the same period. This increase reflects sustained strong demand for Egypt as a tourism destination, particularly for its Red Sea cities. The Head of the Associations in Hurghada, Sayed al-Gabry, emphasized that these indicators confirm Hurghada’s continued prominence on the global tourism map. This status is driven by the city’s natural assets and tourism appeal, making it a top choice for travelers seeking beach holidays, marine activities—such as diving, snorkeling, and boat excursions—and desert safaris. Additionally, the city boasts a diverse range of hotels and resorts capable of accommodating large numbers of visitors throughout the year.
