A thief spent almost 2 hours inside a house in Ghaziabad, stealing cash and jewellery as the family slept. The burglary, and another theft reported days earlier in the same area, have led to deepened security concerns amongst residents.UP thief spends around 2 hours looting home as family sleepsA thief spent around two hours inside a three-storey house in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, emptying cupboards, safes and lockers of cash and jewellery while the family slept inside.The unusual theft took place late at night, leaving the family wondering how none of them woke up during the crime.The house belonged to Dushyant Kumar Sharma, who lived there with his wife and three children. The thief entered through the third floor after breaking the mesh of the security gate and reaching through it to unlatch the door.Once inside, he moved through the house, searching cupboards, safes and lockers across all three floors before leaving with cash and gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. The family only realised something was wrong around 5:30 am, when they woke up to find their belongings scattered around the house. They immediately alerted the police, following which a police team reached the spot and began investigating the incident.The family has raised the possibility that the thief may have used a sleep-inducing spray, as the husband, wife and all three children remained asleep throughout the burglary. However, the suspicion has not been confirmed and will be examined as part of the police investigation.CCTV footage captured the thief making his escape. In the clip, he was seen climbing over the boundary wall, jumping to the other side and landing on the street.Watch the video here:Police are currently examining the footage to identify him and establish how he entered and left the property.The incident has also raised concerns among residents because a similar theft was reported in the same area just two days earlier.On the night of September 19, another house was also targeted, with thieves escaping with jewellery worth around Rs 5 lakh and Rs 75,000 in cash. That incident, too, was captured on CCTV.With two thefts reported within days, residents of the area are now concerned about security in the area.
