He picked up a stick and repeatedly hit the snake until it died.After killing the snake, Uttam bandaged his injured finger himself, had some tea and waited for morning. Around 5 am, he returned home carrying the dead snake and told his family about the bite. His family members were alarmed on learning about the incident and took him to the emergency ward of the district hospital. What surprised them and the hospital staff, however, was that Uttam had brought the snake that had bitten him along with him.He carried the dead reptile inside a bag and showed it to the doctor. Uttam then asked the doctor to check whether the snake was venomous. Doctors immediately examined Uttam and began his treatment. District hospital emergency medical officer Dr Naveen Chauhan said there were no signs of venom in his body.Doctors also found that the snake had bitten Uttam Nayak only once, reducing the risk of a serious envenomation.
