While lifting a sack of grass, he was bitten by a snake that was hiding inside it.Hearing Arun scream, his brother Akash rushed to the spot and took him towards the road. An ambulance and the police were informed as Arun’s condition continued to deteriorate. Meanwhile, a medical store owner saw the seriousness of the situation and took both brothers to the medical college on his motorcycle.At the emergency department of the medical college, Emergency Medical Officer (EMO) Dr Sher Singh and his five-member team immediately began treatment. The doctors advised the family not to let Arun fall asleep. Following the doctors’ advice, Akash kept his brother awake by splashing water on him and slapping his cheeks more than 150 times while continuously monitoring his condition.Dr Sher Singh said five doses of anti-venom are generally administered in cases of snakebite.
