UP government orders half-day for Noida schools on Monday amid Kanwar Yatra

The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a half-day in Noida schools on Monday amid the Karwar Yatra.The Shravan month commenced on July 30, 2026, with the main festival of Shravan Shivratri scheduled for August 11, 2026All schools in Uttar Pradesh's Noida will get over at 12:15 pm on Monday in view of the ongoing Kanwar Yatra and the expected surge in movement of pilgrims. Earlier, schools in districts including in Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad and Meerut have also been ordered shut amid the Kanwar Yatra till August 12.The Shravan month commenced on July 30, 2026, with the main festival of Shravan Shivratri scheduled for August 11, 2026. A large number of devotees and Kanwariyas have started moving through various routes in the district.The order released earlier also extended to colleges, universities and technical institutions, both government and private. However, institutions where examinations have already been scheduled may continue conducting them as per the existing timetable. Apart from such examinations, all higher educational institutions will remain closed from August 4 to 12.HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ORDER RELEASED EARLIERSchool Closures: All schools across different boards in the districts announced -- including the Basic Shiksha Parishad, Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, CBSE, ICSE, and Madarsa Board—will remain shut for students from nursery to Class 12. Higher Education Shut Down: All colleges, universities, and technical institutions (both government and private) operating within the district will also suspend classes during this period.Exam Exception: The order clarifies that any pre-scheduled examinations or university course papers will proceed as announced earlier and will not be disrupted by the closure.District administrations have directed all educational institutions to strictly follow the closure orders and make necessary arrangements during the holiday period.
