United Airlines, the world's largest carrier by fleet size, has cut five routes to its Northern neighbor this year. Five nonstop services between US hubs and Canada have been terminated, likely fueled by the ongoing trade war between the two countries. Canadians are hammering down, with their elbows-up movement, opting for Canadian-made goods, and traveling domestically or to other foreign countries. This has seen demand for trans-border services be subdued, and United is certainly not the only carrier reducing services between the two countries, which otherwise have been close allies. Data from Cirium, an online aviation analytics company, identifies that despite United cancelling five services to Canada, the airline still remains the second-largest airline between the US and Canada, behind Air Canada, but ahead of Delta Air Lines, WestJetand Porter Airlines. Services to the province of Alberta's largest city, Calgary, were operated with a mix of the Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8. United was the only airline connecting the two cities, on a seasonal basis. The airline does not have flights scheduled between the two cities for the 2027 summer season.
