Actor Kamal Haasan met the team of Mandaadi and congratulated them on the film’s success at the box office. Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, the Soori and Suhas-starrer, which revolves around the lives of fishermen in Ramanathapuram and the traditional paaymarapadagu (sailboat) boat race, has crossed the Rs 100-crore mark worldwide.Soori also shared pictures from the meeting on social media and thanked Kamal Haasan for his appreciation. “One of the most unforgettable moments of my life! Actor Suhas, who plays the antagonist in Mandaadi, shared his own experience of meeting Kamal Haasan. “Some moments leave you completely speechless. Standing next to the living legend, the encyclopaedia of acting Kamal Haasan sir. A dream realised, an absolute honour, and a memory I’ll treasure forever (sic),” he wrote on Instagram. Mandaadi has also emerged as another successful outing for Soori, who has steadily transitioned from comedy roles to lead parts in films such as Viduthalai and Garudan. The film’s latest box-office milestone further adds to the attention around his upcoming projects. According to box-office tracking data, Mandaadi had collected Rs 93.40 crore gross in India and Rs 15.85 crore overseas by September 22, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 109.25 crore.Released on September 10, Mandaadi has continued to draw audiences with its story set against the lives of fishermen and the traditional boat-racing culture of Ramanathapuram.
