UN: Israeli forces made 280 incursions into Syria, detain 49 Syrians

Israel has carried out 280 armed incursions into Syria in September and currently detains 49 Syrians, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has said. Several released Syrian detainees have reported “allegations of torture and ill-treatment”, among other violations against them, according to a statement issued by Turk’s office on Friday. Israeli incursions into Syria in September -- marked by raids on homes, restrictions on movement, harassment and intimidation of civilians, arbitrary detention and destruction of livelihoods -- were the highest monthly number of incursions since the start of the year, the statement said.
