Umuahia North Emerges Champions of KAF Abia Champions League

Umuahia North Local Government Area has emerged champions of the KAF Abia Champions League after defeating Aba South LGA 2-0 in a pulsating final played before a mammoth crowd. The final, which brought down the curtain on the competition sponsored by the PDP governorship candidate for Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, also saw Isiala Ngwa North LGA clinch third place. Umuahia North, who showed consistency throughout the tournament, were rewarded with the star prize of a trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of N1,000,000, while runners-up Aba South received silver medals and N600,000. Isiala Ngwa North got bronze medals and N400,000 for finishing third. Speaking after the presentation of medals and cash prizes, Dr. Anosike said the tournament would be hosted yearly as a platform to identify, harness and export talented players to top football leagues across the world. He described the victory of Umuahia North as divine, noting that it was not a mere coincidence that his home local government won the maiden edition, adding that it was evident God was at work and would see him to victory in the current political contest. Anosike commended the organising committee for the excellent and near-perfect organisation of the tournament. Dignitaries at the occasion included Ambassador Empire Kanu, the 2027 PDP candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chukwudi Benson, the PDP candidate for Umuahia East State Constituency, and Prince Ben Okezie. Others were the Ohuhu Youth President, Chief Uchenna Iheanacho, the Umuahia North PDP LGA Chairman, Hon. Chimdi Omesue, and Hon. Emeka Anosike, younger brother of Dr. Anosike.
