Um, Is ‘Pluribus’ Coming Back for Season 2?

Pluribus is quite literally dominating at the Emmys this year, receiving a whopping 18 nominations at the year’s ceremony. With such incredible reception—and a serious cliffhanger in the season 1 finale—fans are chomping at the bit for more information on what’s to come in season 2, and can we blame them? Like, why did “the joining” happen, and how on earth is Carol going to get herself out of that situation?Here’s everything we know about season 2 of Pluribus.Has Pluribus been renewed for season 2?Pluribus received a season 2 renewal before the first season debuted, because yes, it’s that good. After the show had a bidding war, Apple TV won and made sure to give the show at least two seasons.“We’re lucky that we have a series 2 already in the offing,” showrunner Vince Gilligan told Radio Times in November 2025, noting that the writers’ room was going to open up shortly after the time of the interview. “And I’m excited about that, little nervous too. I don’t have all the answers. My writers and I, we don’t have all the answers.”What will Pluribus season 2 be about?Welp, fans can expect to see more of Carol Sturka struggling with being one of the very few humans who haven’t been affected by “the joining,” so expect the stakes to get even higher as the show progresses.How many seasons in total will the show have?There’s a chance that Pluribus could have up to four seasons…maybe. While speaking with Variety, Vince shared that four seasons sounds about right, but he isn’t committing to anything yet. “I don’t know. At this point, maybe four seasons, I’m guessing, but who the hell knows?” he said.“I think we have a pretty good idea of where it should end,” he added in a separate interview with Variety. “One of the most important things I can do in the writers’ room is not be too precious about the ideas. If we come up with a better way to end this thing, we will.”When will season 2 be released?Signs point to Pluribus taking quite some time to return, unfortunately. Writing literally just wrapped in September, which means the show hasn’t even been filmed yet.“Yeah, it’s going to frustrate some folks, just to be honest. We work at the speed we work at, much like glaciers melt at the speed that they melt at,” Vince said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in December. “For my own sake, as much as anybody, selfishly, I wish we could get this job done quicker because I don’t know how many years I’ve got left. I still want to do more things, but I go slower than I used to. So it’s going to be a while between seasons; it just is. Unless we invent a time machine or figure out how to stop time, it’s just the nature of the beast.”There is a silver lining, though—the show will go on as long as its star, Rhea Seehorn, wants to do it for. “I’m really doing it, as much as anybody; I’m doing it for her,” he said in a November interview with Variety. “She deserves to be the megastar that she is. I want the world to understand how great she is, and I want her to be as happy with this show as she could possibly be.”
