Ukrainian Perception of Poland Plummets to 50%

Only half of Ukrainians now consider Poland a friendly country, a sharp decline from previous years, according to a new Rating Group survey. The poll found that 50% of respondents saw Poland’s attitude toward Ukraine as friendly, while 21% considered it hostile. In February 2024, 79% described Poland as friendly, down from 94% in 2023. At the time, 58% of Ukrainians said they had a positive attitude toward Poland. That survey asked a different question and is therefore not directly comparable with the Rating Group figures. Poland drops behind other allies In the latest poll, France was considered friendly by 81% of respondents, followed by the UK at 80%, and Germany and Lithuania at 77%. Moldova was rated friendly by 68%, Romania by 56% and the US by 54%. Views of Polish politicians also differed sharply. Prime Minister Donald Tusk was viewed positively by 45% of Ukrainians and negatively by 35%, while President Karol Nawrocki received 20% positive and 62% negative ratings. By comparison, Nawrocki’s predecessor, Andrzej Duda, was viewed positively by 72% of respondents in February 2025. Rating Group surveyed a representative sample of 2,000 Ukrainian adults between August 4 and 9. The poll excluded Russian-occupied territories and areas without Ukrainian mobile coverage.
