On Oct. 9, Kaluga Oblast Governor Vladislav Shapsha said Ukrainian drones had attacked the regional capital and several nearby districts, injuring nine people in Kaluga. He did not say which facilities had been hit. Yandex is one of Russia’s largest technology companies and the country’s dominant search engine, offering services including cloud computing, online storage, email, maps and ride-hailing. Its data centers support the company’s online and cloud services. Company’s shares fell around 4% on the Moscow Exchange after news of the strike, the second reported attack on the company’s data centers in two days, Meduza reported. On Oct. 8, Ukrainian drones struck another Yandex data center in Sasovo, Ryazan region, where servers host services used by the company and its clients. Operations at that facility were completely halted. The outage disrupted some Yandex services and websites that rely on its infrastructure, including those of Russian Railways, telecom operator MegaFon and several Russian media outlets.
