Ukrainian forces struck the Kombinat Kamensky military-industrial enterprise in Russia’s Rostov region early Sunday morning, Aug. 16, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported. The General Staff stated that a fire was recorded on the territory of the facility, and the extent of the damage is currently being assessed. The military also provided updates on previous operations. The General Staff confirmed that operations at the Zapsibneftekhim facility in Tobolsk, Tyumen region, have been halted following an Aug. 10 strike that damaged its Central Gas Fractionation Unit No. 1. The plant is one of Russia’s largest petrochemical complexes, producing polymers and other materials utilized by the defense industry. Furthermore, the military confirmed the results of an Aug. 11 strike on the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Orsk, Orenburg region. The attack damaged a hydrocracking unit, three primary oil refining units (ELOU-AVT-3, ELOU-AVT-6, ELOU-AT), and a secondary distillation unit. The refinery produces gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and fuel oil for the Russian military. Previous long-range strikes On Aug. 15, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian forces had executed long-range strikes against several strategic facilities deep inside Russia. Additionally, an attack was confirmed on an oil facility in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region, located over 800 kilometers from the border.
