Ukraine Repels 197 Russian Attacks on Monday

The General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) detailed another intense day of fighting on Monday, Sept. 21, with heavy Russian pressure concentrated in the east and southeast along the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka axes.According to the evening operational update at 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time, Russian forces launched 197 combat engagements, along with 50 airstrikes, 168 guided aerial bombs (KABs), 6,137 kamikaze drones and 1,930 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.Northern and Kharkiv axesOn the North Slobozhanskyi and Kursk axes, Russian forces did not conduct offensive operations during the day. No actions were recorded in the evening update either, despite the sectors remaining under near-daily aerial and artillery barrage.In the Southern Slobozhanskyi area, Russian troops launched seven assaults against Ukrainian positions near Kozacha Lopan, Lyman, Symynivka, Rybalchyne and Zarubynka. Two additional clashes in that sector were ongoing at the time of the report.Kupiansk, Lyman and Sloviansk axesOn the Kupiansk axis, the AFU units repelled one Russian attack near Kivsharivka, preventing enemy forces from gaining ground toward key logistical routes.Two Russian attempts to advance were stopped in the Lyman axis, near Shyikivka, Novoselivka and Derylove. Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka axesThe Kramatorsk region saw one recorded assault in the area of Fedorivka Druha, which was repelled by the AFU.Fighting was considerably more intense on the Kostiantynivka axis, where the General Staff reported 14 Russian attacks near Kostiantynivka, Novoselivka, Illinivka, Dovha Balka, Rozkishne and Novopavlivka, while one clash was still ongoing at the time of the report.The concentration of the assaults on the region reflects a broader pattern described in recent operational updates, which have repeatedly highlighted Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk as among the heaviest targeted directions on the eastern front.Heavy Russian losses in PokrovskAccording to the General Staff, 23 attacks were repelled in the Pokrovsk axis, as Russian units attempted to advance near Toretske, Sofiivka, Dobropillia, Novyi Donbas, Vilne, Bilytske, Hannivka, Krasnopodillia, Vodyanske, Dorozhnye, Vasylivka, Myrne, Serhiivka and Novopavlivka.Three engagements were underway at the time of the report.Preliminary figures indicate that Ukrainian Defense Forces killed 40 Russian soldiers and wounded 14 more during the day, destroyed two of their vehicles, two pieces of specialized equipment, one drone command post and 55 enemy shelters.They also damaged two additional vehicles, six artillery systems, two special‑purpose vehicles, seven more unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) control points and 178 shelters, while destroying or suppressing 103 Russian drones of various types.Southern axes: Huliaipole, Orikhiv and DniproOn the Oleksandrivka axis, no offensive actions were conducted during the day.However, on the Huliaipole axis, the AFU recorded 10 ussian attacks near Rizdvianivka, Ternuvate and Kopani, reflecting persistent efforts by Russian forces to probe into Ukraine’s lines around southeastern Zaporizhzhia.Two Russian assaults were repelled on the Orikhiv axis, near Pavlivka.The General Staff reported no Russian operations in the Dnipro region on Monday, although the area remains under regular fire and aerial surveillance.Across other axes, no significant changes were recorded.
