According to the Defense Ministry’s official assessment, Ukraine’s long-range strike campaign reached targets as far as 650 kilometers (404 miles) from the Ukrainian border. The ministry said the operations were intended to disrupt Russia’s military production, weaken its ability to launch attacks and increase the cost of Moscow’s war against Ukraine. Seven Russian defense industry facilities hit Among the targets was the Proton-Electrotex plant in Oryol, approximately 170 kilometers (106 miles) from Ukraine, which manufactures electronic components used in Russian missiles. The ministry reported that the plant’s main microchip production workshop was destroyed, while another building and servers sustained damage. Ukraine also struck the Kamensky chemical plant in Russia’s Rostov region, approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles) from the Ukrainian border. The facility manufactures solid rocket fuel. Russian Su-34 bombers destroyed and damaged at three airfields Ukraine also reported strikes against three Russian military airfields: Borisoglebsk in Voronezh region, Marinovka in Volgograd region and Yeysk in Krasnodar Krai. At Borisoglebsk, the ministry said six Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers were damaged. At Marinovka, Ukrainian Navy missile forces used Neptune coastal missile systems on Oct. 29 to destroy two additional Su-34 aircraft, valued together at approximately $100 million. Another aircraft was reportedly struck at Yeysk airfield. The Su-34 is one of Russia’s principal aircraft used to deploy guided aerial bombs against Ukrainian cities, frontline communities and Ukrainian military positions. The ministry said destroying or damaging these aircraft reduces Russia’s ability to carry out such attacks. $100 million Russian radar system and Iskander launcher also targeted Beyond aviation and industrial facilities, Ukrainian forces struck Russian radar, communications and missile infrastructure. Near Magri in Krasnodar Krai, approximately 450 kilometers (280 miles) from Ukraine, Ukrainian forces hit a Russian 55Zh6U Nebo-U radar station, which the ministry valued at approximately $100 million. A Russian mesh-network communications relay was also hit in the Black Sea. Other reported targets included an Iskander-M ballistic missile launcher in Kursk region, command posts, ammunition and supply depots, repair units, and a field artillery storage facility. In its assessment, the Defense Ministry described the October operations as part of Ukraine’s continuing effort to raise the economic and military costs of Russia’s invasion.
