Ukraine drones pound ANOTHER ‘Russian Amazon’ retail giant for third night in row in bid to cripple Putin’s war machine

UKRAINIAN drones have blitzed another Russian retail giant for the third night in a row as Volodymyr Zelensky tries to destroy the Kremlin’s war machine. It comes after weeks of dramatic strikes on Moscow’s largest retailer Wildberries, known as Russia’s Amazon, with what Ukraine called “long-range sanctions” in an attempt to bleed Vladimir Putin‘s war chest dry. Ozon said its logistics hubs in Makhachkala and Enem were set ablaze after drone attacks. Workers at a site in Stavropol were also evacuated after it was targeted by Ukrainian drones. Dramatic footage showed the warehouses engulfed in flames, with huge clouds of black smoke pouring from the sites. The company said several were injured in the strikes which coincided with Ukraine‘s independence day. It’s the third day running that Zelensky’s forces have pounded Ozon’s sprawling sites, with last night’s hits targeting facilities spanning an estimated 3.27million sq ft – the equivalent of roughly 42 football pitches. It comes as Andy Burnham arrives in Kyiv for his first visit to Ukraine as Prime Minister. The PM arrived by train this morning and has agreed to provide Ukraine with blueprints to produce long-range missiles. Burnham will allow European defence firm MBDA to declassify information on UK components for the Scalp missile – the French-produced version of the UK’s Storm Shadow. Last week, Russia warned that the deeper the country’s involvement became, “the higher the price it will pay”. And Russia pulled its ambassador out of Britain, rewarding the Kremlin crony with a prestigious post in Moscow. Andrei Kelin, 69, was in the job for seven years since his appointment in 2019. He quietly left the role on July 21 and the Kremlin has not replaced him, signalling a serious breakdown in diplomatic relations between Moscow and London. Ukraine also blasted Putin’s Plesetsk military cosmodrome with more than 40 drones last night. Smoke was seen pluming from the military spaceport around 1,000 miles from Ukraine, but Russians refused to confirm any damage. And Nato scrambled two F-16 fighters in Romania after a suspected Russian drone crossed into its airspace in the Târgu Bujor area. The Romanian defence ministry said: “Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, from the 86th Air Base in Borcea, and an IAR-330 SOCAT helicopter were taken off the ground to monitor the situation.” The Nato state has already suffered at least six confirmed drone incursions this month. Russian drones blasted an outlet of Ukraine’s largest home-improvement and DIY retail chain, Epicentr. Local official Oleh Kiper said the city was “again under massive enemy missile and drone attack”. He added: “The main blow was to food storage facilities and energy infrastructure. Private homes were also damaged. Fires broke out. “No information about casualties has been received yet.” Comment now
