The reported drone total exceeds the previous record of 1,671 Ukrainian drones claimed by Russia on Aug. 18, when attacks were reported across 15 Russian regions, occupied Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas. The number of Flamingo missiles reported over the 24-hour period is also unprecedented. Russia had previously claimed to intercept no more than three to six Flamingos in a single day. The figures have not been independently verified. Moscow among the main targets The record-breaking barrage included repeated attacks on Moscow and the surrounding region. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 650 drones were heading toward the capital early on Oct. 6, with 105 destroyed as they approached the city. He later reported another 68 drones intercepted by air defenses. Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said 185 drones were destroyed across 16 municipalities. According to Vorobyov, two people were killed and nine injured. Forty-seven private homes were damaged in several towns, while an apartment building in Lobanovo, near Domodedovo, was also hit. Major oil facility targeted Among the reported targets was the Volodarskaya Linear Production and Dispatch Station, a major Transneft facility and one of the Moscow region’s key fuel-storage and distribution hubs.
