(Photo: Wikipedia)A 63-year-old woman in the UK has been handed a suspended prison sentence after smearing her own faeces into her husband's mouth during a violent confrontation at their £1 million farmhouse in the New Forest. Alison Moore subjected her husband, Rob Moore, to several assaults over an extended period before carrying out the disturbing attack at their home in Damerham. The incident was heard at Southampton Crown Court, where the judge described the act as a 'gratuitous degradation' of the victim.According to reports by the Daily Mail, The Sun and Daily Star, Moore was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months. She had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.Prosecutor Andrew Coley told Southampton Crown Court that the attack took place on August 20, 2026, following an argument between the couple. Moore pushed her husband onto their bed at their farmhouse after accusing him of failing to stand up for her during an earlier pub visit. She also reportedly called him 'boring'.During the confrontation, Moore told her husband, "You talk so much s**t, I'm going to make you eat it," before following through on the threat by smearing her excrement into his mouth.Mr Moore managed to break free and went to wash his mouth and change his clothes. Before cleaning himself, he took a photograph showing his face smeared with faeces. The image was subsequently presented to the court as evidence of the assault.Police were called to the property, following which Moore was arrested. She initially made no comment during her police interview and later submitted a written statement that the prosecution described as a 'bare denial'.The Daily Mail and The Sun reported that the incident was part of a longer pattern of violence against her husband, rather than an isolated confrontation.Husband suffered earlier assaults, court hearsThe judge described the disturbing assault as a 'gratuitous degradation' of the victim. (Photo: Facebook)The court also heard details of previous attacks in which Moore had allegedly struck her husband on the back with a broom handle and hit him in the face while wearing a wedding ring.Photographs taken following incidents in March 2024 and August 2026 showed a cut above Mr Moore's eye, along with an injury and redness on his back. The prosecution also outlined the events leading up to the August attack. Three days after the broom-related incident, the couple had spent an afternoon at a pub, where they argued about when to leave. They subsequently stopped at another pub, but staff reportedly refused to serve Moore before the couple returned home.Moore allegedly blamed her husband for not standing up for her during the incident. Prosecutor Andrew Coley described the subsequent attack as premeditated, citing the ongoing resentment between the couple.Defence cites depression, bereavements and relationship problemsRepresenting Moore, defence barrister Rose Burns told the court that her client deeply regretted her actions and accepted full responsibility for the assaults. However, she argued that Moore's behaviour was partly driven by what she perceived as an imbalance in the relationship. The defence also highlighted the emotional difficulties she had experienced following a series of family bereavements. The court heard that Moore had lost both her parents in 2024 and 2025. Her sister had also died earlier in 2026 after suffering a head injury in a fall down a staircase. She had additionally experienced the deaths of an uncle and her dog.Burns said these circumstances had contributed to a deep depression, leaving Moore feeling trapped and frustrated with her life. The defence also told the court that Moore had sought private mental healthcare at the Priory to review her relationship with alcohol. Financial disagreements had reportedly added to the tensions between the couple, with Moore wanting to sell their farmhouse while her husband opposed the idea.Burns said her client was determined to change her behaviour and hoped that reconciliation with her husband might still be possible. However, she acknowledged that no amount of poor behaviour by Mr Moore could justify the violence inflicted upon him.Judge calls the attack a ‘gratuitous degradation’Judge Gary Lucie acknowledged the personal difficulties Moore had experienced but made it clear that her circumstances did not excuse her actions.Referring specifically to the use of faeces during the assault, he said, "The use of faeces was a gratuitous degradation of the victim."He also observed that the impact of the offences on Mr Moore was evident, despite his decision not to have his victim impact statement read aloud in court. The judge further raised concerns about Moore's relationship with alcohol, telling her that she did not appear to have fully accepted its role in her offending.Mr Moore had asked the court not to impose a restraining order against his wife. He attended the sentencing hearing and, despite the ordeal, left the courthouse alongside her.Moore's previous convictions and assault caseThe case also brought attention to Moore's previous convictions, which include driving with excess alcohol, assault by beating and using violence to secure entry to a property. These offences related to an incident on April 6, 2022, when Moore reportedly turned up at the home of a builder with whom she was infatuated and attacked his partner on the doorstep, pulling out a clump of her hair.Although she initially denied the charges, she was subsequently found guilty at Southampton Magistrates' Court. She received a 12-month restraining order and was prohibited from entering a street in Damerham for a year. She was also ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid community work, undertake rehabilitation activities and pay £500 in compensation to the assault victim, along with £715 in court costs.Moore had spent three weeks on remand at HMP Bronzefield before her latest sentencing and is understood to be living in an Airbnb in Dorset.
