UK supermarket chain brings back ‘ultimate’ Christmas crisps that disappeared from shelves 3 YEARS ago

A MAJOR supermarket chain has brought back a “lush” flavour of festive crisps – and this time it features a crinkle-cut twist. The beloved snack has returned to supermarket shelves after a near three-year hiatus. The snack has now returned in a brand-new format (old design pictured above) Co-op‘s Roast Potato Crisps have finally returned to stores nationwide following its controversial axe in 2023. Back by popular demand, fans said they had been “gutted” by the loss of their beloved savoury staple three years ago and vowed to “stockpile them” upon their return. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Now, the supermarket has re-introduced the crisps in a new crinkle-cut format, along with another seasonal favourite, Pigs in Blankets Crisps. The festive flavour combines sea salt, garlic, rosemary and black pepper – all designed to recreate the seasonings of a roast potato. Although at the time of its introduction in 2019 some shoppers dismissed the snack as overly “simple”, it had built a cult fan-base up until its axe. Following their disappearance from supermarket shelves, one devastated shopper wrote on X: “Finding out that @coopuk aren’t doing their Ultimate Roast Potato crisps this year has made me sad. “In my humble opinion, they need to become a permanent fixture on the shelves.” Thankfully, Natalie Dawe, crisps, snacks and nuts development manager at Co-op, confirmed: “This year, we’re delighted to bring back our Roast Potato Crisps and what I love about them is that the flavour always sparks discussion… it’s much more than meets the eye!” Most read in Money And shoppers have already reacted with delight, with one commenting on Facebook: “Love love the roast potato amazing will have to stock up.” Another simply said: “These are lush!” Also new to this year is the Wagyu Beef & Caramelised Onion flavour, a gourmet-inspired recipe said to combine the popularity of Wagyu beef with sweet, caramelised onion.
