Russia said the seven-year-old plane suffered a “technical malfunction” during the flight. There were both British and Chinese passengers on board, according to local media. Local authorities said: “51 personnel and 15 vehicles were dispatched to the scene, including 39 personnel and 11 vehicles from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. “Flight HU753 landed safely at Krasnoyarsk at 6:28am local time. “Immediately after landing, English- and Chinese-speaking airport employees began working at the scene. “At the direction of the Krasnoyarsk Airport CEO, passengers and crew are being provided full support.” They added that a backup plane is being sent to Krasnoyarsk to continue to journey. Hainan Airlines said: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to passengers. “Hainan Airlines always adheres to the principles of safety first and passengers first, providing safe, comfortable and efficient services.” The terrifying emergency landing in Russia comes amid Putin’s barbaric war in Ukraine. The UK Foreign Office advises against all travel to Russia – citing security threats and the limited ability of Britain to provide support. An unconfirmed number of Brit passengers are now reportedly in Putin’s backyard, and it is unclear if their journey will resume without any issues.
