UCC implementation in all 21 states ruled by BJP, NDA partners before 2029: Amit Shah's big remarks

The next Lok Sabha elections are scheduled for 2029Madhya Pradesh became the latest state to unanimously approved the UCC in a special cabinet meeting in Bhopal’s Jagdishpura last month. Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to pass a UCC law in February 2024. Maharashtra, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh have formed drafting committees for the legislation.Shah highlights implementation of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, says govt ended NaxalismUnion home minister Shah said the government had strengthened the criminal justice system in the country with the enforcement of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, adding that the conviction rate in several states had increased to 30 per cent in a single year, PTI news agency reported.Shah said the BJP-led NDA government had also ended five decades of Naxalism and signed over 14 peace agreements in the country's North East region. “More than 9,000 people have surrendered and today we have taken the North East on the path of development,” Shah added.The Union home minister also informed that a system was being established to ensure that justice is delivered within three years. While speaking about the achievements of the Centre over the last 12 years and the BJP's 25-year journey, Shah said triple talaq had also been abolished, “giving Muslim women equal rights.”He said the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A had been achieved without any bullet being fired or a single drop of blood shed. Whatever decision is taken, we will inform you.”In response to the methods being used to detect “infiltrators”, Shah quipped, “You are asking the Home Minister to make the tools public and tell you how it will be done. Then how will we catch them?” However, he reiterated the Centre's resolve in the matter.“I repeat our resolve that we will take out each and every illegal infiltrator from this country, identifying them one by one and sending them out,” PTI cited Shah as saying.
