Ubuntu 26.10 amd64v3 Daily ISOs Now Being Published

As an interesting development for Ubuntu 26.10, the daily ISOs of the "Stonking Stingray" now include amd64v3 images. The daily ISOs starting on 4 September now include amd64v3 ISOs alongside the generic amd64 image along with the arm64 and riscv64 ISOs. As with prior Ubuntu Linux releases, Canonical has continued with experimenting with amd64v3 package builds of the distribution. The x86_64-v3 micro-architecture feature level allows for assuming AVX/AVX2 by default as well as FMA, BMI2, MOVBE, and other newer CPU ISA features for allowing better performance. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 is among the Linux distributions already mandating x86_64-v3, which roughly correlates to CPUs of the past 13+ years from Intel Haswell to AMD Excavator and newer. With Ubuntu's amd64v3 package experiments it's a separate architecture in the archive with the plain amd64 "x86_64" packages still being produced for those on pre-2013 systems. As a sign of Canonical potentially elevating the amd64v3 status for Ubuntu 26.10, amd64v3 ISOs are now being spun as part of the daily image process. Previously the amd64v3 packages had to be deployed by first installing the generic amd64 ISO/packages and then adjusting APT and upgrading to the amd64v3 packages. With amd64v3 ISOs, it's a much more streamlined experience. It will be interesting to see what comes of amd64v3 officially for Ubuntu 26.10.
