Uber completes roll out of new feature across WHOLE of UK

UBER has completed the roll out of a new feature, in a good news boost for passengers. Some users of the ride-hailing app may have already been able to try out the feature in the past two months. It comes as the popular taxi service sent an email out to passengers in the capital today letting them know the feature is available. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! The new feature means passengers can record audio of their journeys. The recording system hopes to help users feel safer throughout their journey and encourage respectful interactions on trips. Audio recording can be activated manually through the Safety Toolkit, signposted by a blue shield symbol, where a “Record Audio” option will be available to select. The trip audio will then be recorded, stored and encrypted inside the app, meaning it cannot be accessed by the person recording, the driver, or other Uber passengers. Then, passengers will have the opportunity to share the recording with the Uber Safety Support team, who will review the information shared. From now, the feature will work on any Uber trip, including UberX Share trips if they are available in your city. Most read in Motors Before your journey, your driver will be notified that you may record trips before pick-up, and if you activate recording for the first time during a trip, future drivers will also be notified. If the recording is deemed relevant to a safety incident, the driver will be notified that the recording has been uploaded for the trip – but the actual content will not be shared with them. Passengers have also been warned not to use the microphone during the recording, including answering phone calls, as the audio will be paused. Uber has told customers on its website: “Safety is our top priority and we’re committed to building technologies that help make your Uber experience even safer. “Audio Recording is intended to help encourage safe interactions while on a trip, determine what happened, and identify the best response after a safety-related incident.” If the audio recording feature is not visible on the Uber app, the taxi company has advised customers to update it to the latest version.
