Tyson Fury has ‘breached’ Anthony Joshua fight contract, claims Eddie Hearn as he gives update on fight deal

The Matchroom chief hit back as the row over the long-awaited showdown rumbles on, with both heavyweight rivals still waiting for an official date and venue confirmation. Speaking to DAZN, he said: “I don’t know what else to tell you other than we signed a contract. All we’re asking for is that contract to be honoured.” Sign up for the Sport newsletter Thank you! Addressing Fury’s social media outburst blaming AJ and Hearn for the delay, Hearn revealed: “Tyson Fury doesn’t know the full situation because there are things in our contract he was supposed to do that haven’t been done.” “So already we have a series of breaches. But because we’re partners with these people, we’re trying to work through it.” The main sticking point remains the venue. Joshua’s contract states the fight must be in Britain, but key parties – including Turki Alalshikh, Netflix, and Sela – are pushing for Madison Square Garden in New York. Hearn took aim at attempts to alter the deal: “You can’t just turn around and go, ‘Oh, by the way, now we’re moving the venue and country from where it’s supposed to be.’ “‘Now you’re going to make a load less money, and now you need to do this, this, and this.’” While Hearn, 46, was previously open to discussing America, he maintains moving the bout would reduce Joushua’s purse while imposing extra commercial obligations under revised terms. Adding to the confusion, promoter Frank Warren previously claimed Fury’s paperwork “states something different” from Joshua’s contract. With both fighters coming through recent tune-up bouts, all in-ring hurdles are cleared. However, Hearn’s latest claims show significant contractual obstacles remain outside the ring before British boxing’s biggest clash can be announced.
