Tyrone provoked into violent attack on close friend in Coronation Street by vile Ross

Emerging as beloved Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) long lost dad, it was clear from the jump that something was very wrong about Ross, with Ty’s mum, Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) initial reaction giving everything away. Ross had paid for sex from her when she was a 15-year-old drug addict, and having to face a man that abused her in her youth was traumatising for her. So traumatising, in fact, that she tried everything to rid the street, and her son, of the monster, though Ross was as calculating as they came and scuppered her every attempt to expel him from their lives. Conceding defeat, Cassie decided to leave Weatherfield, and when Ross spotted her on the side of the road, he offered to take her to the train station, before locking her in his vehicle and terrorising her. Cassie still hasn’t been heard from, with a very real possibility that Ross exacted a violent, and potentially fatal revenge. Ross’ influence is pure poison (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) With no further obstacles in his way, Ross has sought to ‘change’ Tyrone, by ridding him of his kind heart and good nature and instil in him Ross’ own attitude; one of violence and toxicity, with a healthy dose of misogyny thrown in as well. The rest of the house has fallen victim to his ways, too. Discovering Dorin (Henry Nye Meller) playing with a doll, Ross was utterly appalled and immediately set about enrolling him in boxing classes, while also attempting to bar Hope and Ruby (Isabella Flanagan and Billie Naylor) from the same activity due to them being girls. The atmosphere he’s creating at the Dobbs residence hasn’t gone unnoticed by Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), who’s certainly got Ross’ number. Ross starts a vicious confrontation… (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) …that Tyrone takes way too far (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Next week sees Dorin come home with a bruise after a playdate with Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown’s (Sam Aston and Dolly-Rose Campbell) son, Aled (Joseph Woods), with Ross taking the opportunity to tell his son to head over and confront his brother-in-law. As Ross spits venom at Chesney and Gemma, Tyrone is irked by Chesney’s mention of his affair with Dorin’s mum, Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu), and things continue to heat up between the two men. With a nod from his dad, Tyrone’s aggression increases and soon after, he punches Chesney straight in the mouth, with both looking absolutely horrified by what’s just happened. Gemma slings both Tyrone and Ross out swearing revenge, as Ross tells Chesney that he deserved the crack in the mouth, but with the physical evidence of how much Ross’ influence is poisoning Tyrone, can anyone intervene?
