Two-year-old dies after falling into water-logged courtyard

A two-year-old child who sustained grave injuries after falling into the waterlogged courtyard of his house died at a private medical college hospital in Kozhikode district on Saturday (August 1, 2026) night. Though he was rushed to a private clinic near his house, his condition was found critical and he was referred to the private medical college hospital. According to sources, the child, who was later placed on ventilator support, succumbed to injuries by 10.30 p.m.Police sources said the body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Local residents said the courtyard of his house remained inundated after stormwater suddenly entered the area from a nearby road and drainage. They said several households in the area went through a harrowing experience with the sudden entry of stormwater following the heavy downpour on Saturday (August 1).
