Two women drown after getting trapped in car as vehicle plunges off ferry ramp in Spain

TWO women have been killed, while a man is fighting for his life after a car plunged into the sea off a ferry in Spain. There were four people inside the vehicle who were travelling to the city of Tangier, in Morocco, when the incident happened in the early hours of this morning. The tragedy happened in the port of Algeciras in Cadiz when the vehicle toppled off the ramp connecting the ship to land. The second man, who was strapped in the passenger seat, also managed to free himself and has been taken to hospital in critical condition. Civil guards of the Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) rushed to the scene and tried to rescue the two women, aged 43 and 71, who were in the back of the car. When they found them, nothing could be done to save them and they were pronounced dead at the scene. The weight of the vehicle, with luggage, caused it to sink in just a few seconds. Staff on the ferry had showed the driver where he should park, but for some reason, the car continued its journey and headed directly towards the ramp.
