Two women, 19 and 20, arrested after boy, three, is left fighting for his life following plunge from first-floor window

Emergency services raced to the scene after the youngster fell from a property in Rochdale on Saturday afternoon. An air ambulance was also scrambled and landed close to the area shortly after 4.15pm. The toddler was rushed to hospital and remains in a critical condition. Greater Manchester Police said officers responded to a concern for the welfare of a child at around 4.16pm yesterday. A force spokesperson said: “Two women have been arrested in relation to an incident in Rochdale yesterday. “The two women, aged 19 and 20, were arrested at a property in Blackburn earlier today (Sunday 23 August 2026) on suspicion of causing a serious injury to a child. “Officers had responded to a concern for welfare of a child report yesterday (Saturday 22 August 2026) at around 4.16pm at Spotland Tops, Rochdale.
