Two men from Chennai killed, six injured as SUV rams into SETC bus near Cuddalore

The mangled remains of the SUV, which met with an accident at Chinna Karaikadu near Cuddalore on the Villupuram-Nagapattinam NH on August 30, 2026 | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Two men were killed and six others including a child were injured after a SUV they were travelling in rammed into a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus at Chinna Karaikadu on the Villupuram-Nagapattinam highway on Sunday (August 30, 2026).The deceased were identified as Vignesh (27) and Parasuraman (50), from Chennai.Police said seven persons from Chennai were returning from Velankanni when the accident occurred. The driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle and rammed behind a SETC bus crushing the vehicle with the occupants trapped inside.While Vignesh and Parasuraman died on the spot, the injured identified as Sangeetha, Divya, Thamaraiselvi, Poongodi, car driver Saravanan and Jeeva were admitted to the Cuddalore Government General Hospital.Traffic was disrupted on the Villupuram-Nagapattinam highway due to the accident.The Cuddalore Newtown police are investigating.Ends Published - August 30, 2026 03:21 pm IST
