Two huge superyachts worth £410MILLION both belonging to US billionaire appear at UK harbour

TWO major superyachts worth a combined £410m have moored up in a popular south coast harbour. The fleet, which belongs to billionaire American video game developer Gabe Newell, is turning heads in Poole Harbour. Work on the lavish boat began in 2020 and was completed last year. On board there are 11 suites for up to 26 guests as well as accommodation for its 37 crew. Leisure facilities include a gaming lounge with 15 stations, two racing simulators, a gym, spa, sauna and jacuzzi and a basketball court. There are also conference facilities on board. The 5,000 tonne yacht, estimated to be worth a staggering £300million, is powered by a hybrid diesel-electric engine and has a maximum speed of 17 knots. The yacht’s facilities include a beach club, spa, gym, sauna, Turkish bath and a 20 square metre swimming pool with jets. Mr Newell acquired it in 2023 and it is said to be worth £110million. Poole has deep-water berths, top security and is relatively close to London. It has also been awarded five gold anchors, the prestigious global marina accreditation scheme managed by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA). Marinas are rated across categories such as ambience, customer service, on-water and onshore facilities and infrastructure. The Poole Harbour Commissioners hope it will become the UK’s number one marine leisure location. Earlier this month, the £220million new superyacht Milky Way, which has a 50 sqm swimming pool on board, moored in the harbour. Poole Harbour is next to the millionaires‘ playground of Sandbanks.
