Two dead after light aircraft crashes in countryside amid ‘challenging search operation’ to find plane

NewsUK News TWO people have died following a horror small plane crash near a remote village. Police were scrambled to the scene at midday yesterday after a light aircraft did not arrive at Caernarfon Airport, north Wales, as scheduled. The small plane had taken off from an airfield in England and was due to arrive at the airport in Wales but did not appear. A multi-agency search operation was subsequently launched and the light aircraft was later found in a remote area near Trawsfynydd, Gwynedd. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Both people on board the flight were tragically pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A team of investigators from the Air Accidents Investigations Branch (AAIB) have arrived on scene and are launching a probe into the tragedy. Ch Supt Owain Llewellyn said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those involved in this tragic incident. “We will support the AAIB with their investigation to ensure the circumstances leading to this incident are fully understood. “This has been a challenging search operation and I am grateful to all of the agencies involved for their professionalism and dedication.” North Wales Police are supporting the AAIB in its probe into the tragedy.
