The Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation (GIFT), in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), is organising a national seminar on September 7 and 8 to discuss the second-generation reforms of Goods and Services Tax (GST) system and its impact on State finances and fiscal policies.The seminar, to be held at the GIFT campus in Thiruvananthapuram, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on September 8. Renowned economist Professor M.A. Oommen will be honoured at the event. The Chief Minister will launch GIFT’s new publication, ‘Economy and Fiscal Watch’ (EFW).Former Keralam Finance Ministers T.M. Thomas Isaac and K.N. Balagopal and former Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Haseeb A. Drabu will participate in a dialogue on the past, present and future of GST.
