Two cops injured after ‘stolen car crashes into marked police vehicle during chase’ – as teen, 16, arrested

A 16-YEAR-OLD has been arrested after allegedly smashing into a police car during a chase – hospitalising two officers. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with several offences following the incident in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, yesterday. Humberside Police were scrambled to the scene on Byron Grove after receiving reports of a car being stolen at around 1pm. Officers pursued the motor before the chase came to an end when the car allegedly ploughed into a marked police vehicle. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Two officers were injured in the chase and taken to hospital for treatment. The teen was arrested and has since been charged with several offences including dangerous driving, possession of a class C drug, theft and two counts of driving without a licence. He has also been charged with two counts of driving without insurance, making off without payment, taking a motor vehicle, possession of a class B drug, aggravated vehicle taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He has been remanded into secure accommodation to appear in court at a later date. Humberside Police said: “At around 1pm officers received reports of a car being stolen resulting in a pursuit. “The car then allegedly collided with a marked police vehicle, resulting in both vehicles coming to a stop and two officers being taken to hospital to receive treatment to injuries.” Most read in The Sun
