Two college students die as motorcycle rams flyover wall

Two 19-year-old college students were killed after a high-end motorcycle they were riding rammed the parapet wall of a flyover at Sunguvarchatram in Kancheepuram district on Saturday.The deceased were identified as Rahul, 19, a resident of Pappanchathiram in Tiruvallur district, and Prathap, 19, from Kaniyambadi in Vellore district. According to the police, the duo were travelling on the motorcycle on the Chennai–Bengaluru National Highway, towards Vellore, to visit Prathap’s home. When they reached the flyover at Sunguvarchatram, they lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the parapet wall.The impact threw both students off the flyover. They fell onto the Walajabad Road below. Prathap died on the spot, while Rahul succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital in an ambulance.The Sunguvarchatram police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Sriperumbudur Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
