Two babies and a woman in hospital after crash involving car and a bus

A woman and two babies are being treated for injuries after a crash (Picture: Liverpool Echo) A woman and two babies are in hospital after their car collided with a bus. Just before 10.30am today, police received a report of a crash involving a 10A bus and a grey Audi A3 on Warrington Road, Rainhill, at the junction of Chatsworth Road. Emergency services attended the scene, and those in the car – a woman in her 40s and two babies – were taken for treatment for injuries. Enquiries are ongoing to determine the extent of any injuries sustained by those on the bus, but none are believed to be serious at this stage. Road closures have been put in place, and drivers have been asked to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident. Diversions on the 10A bus route, which goes from St Helens to Liverpool ONE, have also been implemented. The collision between a bus and an Audi A3 occurred on Friday morning on Warrington Road, Rainhill (Picture: Liverpool Echo) A statement from Arriva on its website said: ‘Due to an RTC (road traffic collision) on Warrington Road, Service 10A will be diverted via Delph Lane, Portico Lane, and Scholes Lane in both directions. ‘Services will omit Warrington Road, Rainhill Road, and Nutgrove Road in both directions.’ A man who lives nearby told the Liverpool Echo: ‘I heard the helicopter and came out to see what happened. My neighbour told me there’d been a crash; I came down. ‘That road’s so bad for cars. I’ve lived here 42 years, and I’ve had arguments with people who’ve pulled out on me. I just want to know everyone’s OK.’ Another resident heard the crash, too, and went outside to see people ‘rushing to the car’. ‘The police came pretty much straight away.’ Police are in the early stages of their investigation (Picture: Liverpool Echo) Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said in the immediate aftermath: ‘We are in the very early stages of investigating this serious collision and would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward. ‘An investigation is now underway to find out the full circumstances of this collision, and we are determined to get answers. ‘I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was travelling in the area at the time with a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to make contact with our team.’ Additionally, anyone in the area who has a CCTV system is urged to check the footage to see if it captured anything relevant, ‘even if it appears insignificant’, because it could prove vital to police enquiries.
