A SICK dad who raped and murdered his eight-year-old son’s friend during a sleepover has been jailed for life. Despite pleading his innocence, the twisted criminal was convicted of the rape and murder of the young boy. Prosecutors presented harrowing forensic evidence including bite marks, abrasions, adult pubic hair and nail marks on Daniel’s neck. The father cannot be named to protect the identity of his son who was the key witness during the trial. Handing down the sentence, acting Judge Sue Smith said the man had shown “no remorse for his actions at any stage”. He was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for the rape of a woman in 2005 and eight years for the sexual assault of Daniel, with all sentences ordered to run concurrently. The court heard the father was a repeat sex offender who had entered into a plea agreement after the 2005 rape conviction. The judge ordered that his details be added to South Africa’s National Register for Sex Offenders. He has also been permanently banned from working with children and prohibited from possessing a firearm. Daniel’s mother Maria Jamneck and Caryn Brown, the survivor of the 2005 rape, were granted the right to make representations to the parole board should he ever become eligible for release. Maria and Caryn held hands in solidarity as the sentence was handed down, as the accused was seen weeping in the dock. Speaking outside court after the sentencing, Maria said: “Nothing will ever bring back my son, so that feeling of grief, it lives with you. “So no sentence will ever be harsh enough.” Maria described Daniel as her “absolute light”, saying he dreamed of becoming a vet and adored his younger sister. It comes after a wicked uncle who kidnapped and murdered his three-year-old niece was jailed for life. Yusuf Aydemir was found guilty of the deliberate murder of Leyla Aydemir after locking her in a cold storage unit before dumping her body beside a stream in rural Turkey.
