Over the past month, we have been riding it rather gently, and it has proved to be an excellent everyday family scooter. The suspension does a commendable job of soaking up bumps, making daily commutes comfortable, while the exhaust note remains subdued and never becomes intrusive. Many enthusiasts have pointed out that despite its larger engine, the Ntorq’s exhaust note does not sound as sporty as they would have liked. The reason is fairly straightforward. Manufacturers today have to comply with stringent noise regulations, which limit exhaust sound levels. The original 125cc Ntorq, launched several years ago, certainly had a throatier soundtrack because the regulations were less restrictive back then. Given the current norms, we think TVS has struck a good balance between refinement and character. Another highlight is the headlamp. While I’m not entirely sold on its styling, its performance is beyond reproach. The four-LED setup offers excellent illumination. On low beam, two of the four LEDs are activated, producing a strong and well-spread beam. Switch to high beam and all four LEDs come alive, flooding the road ahead with light. It makes a noticeable difference on poorly lit Indian roads and significantly boosts rider confidence after dark. The LED DRLs are equally effective. Besides improving visibility to other road users, they also lend the scooter a more premium and distinctive appearance.Subscribe to Auto Today Magazine - Ends
